One of the things I am is a furry, or anthropomorphic, fan. Short-short definition, anthropomorphics are animals with some human characteristics. This covers a lot of ground, from funny-animal cartoons to realistic science-fiction stories to fantasy. Some examples:

MUCKs

MUCK stands for, very roughly, Multi-User Consensual Kingdom. Basically it's a real-time role-playing game on a server on the Internet. You can talk to other people in real time as on IRC. Unlike IRC, though, there is a virtual environment you can interact with as well. You can move from place to place, pick up and use objects, even fly starships. Furry fans have created several MUCKs based around various furry themes. If you like chatting with people, role-playing anthropomorphic characters, or both, you might want to check them out. I've collected some information about Furry MUCKs below.

Link There are several furry-oriented MUCKs out there. Here are some details about the ones I frequent. Also included are some tutorials on character setup, building and other activities on the MUCKs. They're included here because, while a lot of the principles are the same, many technical details vary from MUCK to MUCK sufficiently that you can't blindly apply things from one MUCK to another.

Link To access a MUCK, you probably want a client program. TinyFugue is one of the more popular clients for Linux systems ( and Unix systems in general ). If you are using Windows, one popular client is Phoca. I don't do Windows, so beyond providing the download I can't help much.

Link I'm on several MUCKs as the character Jeran. Here's some information about him as he exists on FurryMUCK.

Link Here are some rules and guidelines that, if followed, will make your in-MUCK life easier. There are also ways to deal with problems if/when they arise.

Links

My links page has quite a few links to furry sites and information on it.

Kittiara has written some erotic/science-fiction stories about furry characters. I have done HTML conversions of them, or you can view her Velar library containing plain text files.
