Finally finished the translations of Kittiara's stories up through book 3 part 6. Parts 7 and 8 are on the agenda. I'll also be trying to do up RedHat pages for RedHat 9. I'm using that at work. At home, I think I'll be switching to Debian at the next major upgrade of my systems.

Fixed up the WebSideStory statistics code and added it to a larger set of my Web pages. I work for them, it doesn't track individual data and if you want to know what it does track and how I'll be happy to answer questions as far as possible.

Converted the top pages to HTML 4.01. Added some more links. I'll be working through the rest of the site after I convert Kittiara's stories over. Then add some photos to those pages, then work on RedHat 7.1 instructions.

No, I'm not dead. I am in new digs in San Diego, though, and at a new job. Which, BTW, is a lot less stressful than my job at Flying J was towards the end. Immediate plans for the site include:

• Conversion to HTML 4.01 and CSS.
• Add in Hitbox counter/statistics code on all pages. I may get rid of the box at the top once I snag an Enterprise account.
• Addition of RedHat Linux 7.1 instructions.
• Addition of the last 3 installments of Kittiara's story.

Did some minor changes, just presentation and internal things, no content changes. I'll be doing some more. Since Netscape 6 is out, I'll also probably be switching gradually over to style sheets for presentation control. This means that Netscape 4 will probably not display things correctly. I also plan on rounding out a few of the incomplete pages under the Linux configuration, and fixing some errors with some of the MUCK stuff.

Added a link on the Furry MUCKs page to Deuce's FurryMUCK mapping project. Added a link on the anthropomorphic index page to my HTML conversions of Kittiara's stories.

Began conversion of the HTML source for my pages into something roughly compatible with HTML 4.01, and started putting them under formal RCS version control. None of this should be visible to most people.

Cleaned up some things, and added a page on getting procmail working on XMission's machines as well as your own box. Also added a rant on inverse character theft, as happened to someone I know about a month ago.

• Finished the PPP setup and gateway/firewall stuff for RedHat 6.2. The RedHat 6.2 pages are now on-line.
• Added a rant about firewalls, ISP routing and filtering policies and denial-of-service attacks.
• Added a FurryMUCK character setup page to the Anthropomorphics section.

Did a fair amount of work on updates this weekend and last. Some of what's up:

• Updated personal info pages, including putting my resume on-line.
• Added a lot more links to the links page, and put in a table of contents of the sections at the top to make jumping to relevant sets of links quicker.
• Updated most of the RH6.2 pages, and added a section for them. One thing I like about 6.2: more and more the stock setup is doing exactly what I want, with less and less hacking required. This will come on-line shortly.

Picking up the pieces after data corruption and a Win98 install nearly destroyed my root partition. RedHat 6.2 updates in the works.

• Changed the home-page emblem links to be absolute URLs. This should make it slightly more annoying for people "borrowing" the pages to completely disguise where they came from.
• I'm working on a page covering basic things like downloading archives, building source RPMs, installing RPMs and such.

• Changed to new site logo and button set. Added new navigation button locations and made it a bit more consistent and convenient ( I hope ). I'll probably play with the navigation mechanics a bit over the next month or so.
• Added the page covering Secure Shell version 1 clients. Servers and version 2 will be added shortly.
• Updated the RH6 fetchmail, sendmail and BIND pages to reflect the latest versions of those packages.
• Removed the RH5 configuration pages. They are sufficiently outdated as to not be useful anymore.
• Changed e-mail address to my domain.
• Added a rant about Unisys and their patents on parts of the GIF format.

Changed name, updated links, shifted slightly to start to accomodate Web hosting. I'm also working on RedHat 6.2, upgrading things, and some of that should start to be reflected on these pages. Actually some changes are already being made, but they aren't ready to move up to the Web site yet.

Well, I had a counter installed. Thanks to some jerk who decided to SYN-flood BoingDragon's server for no apparent good reason, the counter never worked right and has been removed. Thank you oh so very much whoever the Hell you are, and may the fleas of a thousand camels infest your undergarments.

Converted all hosted GIF images to PNG. Added counter. Removed tables on some of the pages. Changed the local port range in the firewall IP rules script so that the maximum port number is now 59999 instead of 61000.

• I finally got RedHat 6.0 installed when I did a forced hardware upgrade on one of my machines. Work on 6.0 configuration has begun. The 5.x configuration will not be maintained from here on out.
• 5.x PPP archive updated with minor bugfixes.

Cleaned up a few errors in the BIND configuration page. Altered it to use chkconfig for configuring the startup links instead of doing it the hard way.

• Updated the DNS page to include information on record types and setting up a private domain for private IP addresses.
• Updated the links page with some new links
• Updates to the Secure Shell page for setting up an SSH server, current versions of BIND and sendmail, current versions of pppd and some actual code snippets are in the works.

• Updated the PPP installation script. The old version only worked on bash v2 while the new version should work on bash v1 as well.

Noticed a rather glaring problem in the sendmail.cw contents on the Sendmail configuration page. By including xmission.com in it, all mail to other users on XMission would be considered local mail. This was wrong.

• Updated the General Security page to include information on /etc/pwdb.conf.

• Reorganized things. There's now a real home page, and the RedHat configuration stuff is below it.
• Added a links page.
• Added a rant on cryptography restrictions.
• Added an empty page for code I've written. This will be filled in as I get things set.
• Added sections to the DNS configuration page for using the root nameservers, file naming conventions I use, and setting up pseudo-zones for single IP address such as those people with a static IP address might need.

Updated the PPP setup page. The big change is the addition of a script to automate the editing of the template files based on answers to a series of questions. The template files and the manual process has been streamlined as a result, and now there's only one template archive that is used by everyone.
